. Drive into an unspoiled Bali to the West. Via Tabanan up to the jungle of Bali to Batakau. There the street ends and there - at the end of the world - you will find one of the most beautiful Balinese temples. Drive a little back to Wangaya Gede and you will see breathtaking rice fields and typical Balinese villages on your way to Jatiluwih. Go on up to Bedugul at 1200 Meter height, where you will not find any more palm trees but only pine trees. On your way down to the dream place of Munduk you will be passing by three lakes and many potato, curly flower and strawberry fields. At the edge of the rice fields you will find the beautiful new Bungalow Puri Lumbung Tel: 0362 92810, Fax: 771532 (price category: middle), the owner is Mr. Nyoman Bagiarta, a former Director of the "Hotelfachschule", which guarantees the great quality of service and food in the Bungalow Hotel. On you go to Mayong, then up to Papuan and passing by the most beautiful rice terraces on Bali you reach Belimbing. There is a wonderful new Bungalow Hotel in the middle of the rice fields, ideal for leisure walks and trekking tours. Booking at KCB: Tel: 0361 751517, Fax: 752777. The owner is the Dutch Consul in Bali. Onwards via Antosari to Kerambitan. A nice place to stay over night: Bee Bees Bungalow, in the midst of rice fields with sea view (very reasonable priced), just 5 minutes from the Puri Anyar Palace. The owner Barbara is a very gifted artist. Another place to stay over night is the Puri Anyar, the only Balinese King's Palace still intact. You will feel like being part of a fairytale from 1001 nights. The count Dr. Rai Giri Gunadi treats his guests in a real aristocratic way, Tel: 0362 812668, Fax: 263597 (higher price category). Don't forget to make a trip from the palace to Pasut Beach! (Weekend house of Jon und Suci Zuercher) On to Palau Menjangan with a fully intact coral reef with thousands of coral fish. Here you will find boats with National Park Rangers, who will take you to the island in about 20 minutes. Overnight in the newest Hotel Mimpi, which has its own diving station and boat for the visit of the natural coral reef park, Tel: 082 8362729, or Homestay Pondok Sari, Tel: 0362 92337. Now go always along the coast of the South China Sea in the North via Lovina Beach. Here it is recommended to go for a n early morning dolphin watch tour (uncountable places to stay overnight), passing the old Balinese capital of Singaraja to Alamanda. There a beautiful small Hotel waits to comfort it's guests. Also a nice place to stay overnight, a hotel with a wonderful coral reef close by the Hotel Poincianna Bungalows in Tejakula Tel. 081 79700526 or 081 23986458. Both places, Alamanda und Poincianna Bungalows invite to stay longer for a diving or snorkeling trip. Absolutely beautiful! Now drive on along the North coast, which is very dry and rough, but very beautiful, full of cactuses. Passing the last vineyards, following the coast line to Amed then following the far east coast you'll find Viena Bungalow or other new hotels directly at the beach and reach Bali's most beautiful beach spot. Directly in front of your Bungalow is an amazing coral reef. Goggles and snorkels can be easily rented here. Don't forget to get up at 5:15 to watch the sunrise and the incoming colorful Catamaran fisher boats - a spectacular sight! Of course you could also go out on the boat with one of the fishermen! From here you should definitely visit Tirtagangga, „Water Palace“ , where you can take a wonderful bath in one of the ancient aristocratic bathes. (Nice place to stay overnight above the Kings-Pools, in the rice fields) On you go to Putung and be surprised by the view ... Here you can eat or stay overnight (If you wish to hike to the "Mountain of Gods") From Selat direction Rendang. Now you will probably say these are the most beautiful rice terraces, because you already forgot the other ones. Can the world be any more beautiful than here??? On to Sidemen and overnight in Pondok Wisata Br. Tebola, Tel: 0366 24183 or go on to stay overnight in Candi Dasa, a small Paradise at the sea. Recommendable: Watergarden, Tel: 0363 41540 (price category: middle) or one of my favorite spots on the island "Kubu Bali" ... or via the volcanoes Penelokan-Kintamani (with plenty of places to stay overnight) and back to Ubud ( nice Hotel: Alam Indah 2 Nyuhkuning Village Tel/Fax: 0361 977463) to the Tourist Area of South Bali. Attention Price per day and car EURO 50.- all inclusive (place for 4 persons) except expenses for food and hotels P.S. Don't forget: Sunset and sundowner at the swimming pool of the Bali Cliff Hotel. Real Balinese Food in the Bumbu Bali Restaurant of Heinz vonHolzen at the street Nusa Dua-Benoa (opposite Nusa Dua Clinic) or fresh grilled fish from the uncountable little food stalls at Jimbaran Beach. Every Thursday at 19:30 Balinese Dances and interesting Documentary Movie "Bali" and a huge Balinese Buffet at the Swiss Restaurant in Legian.
